When we moved into my granparent's house, my grandfather’s study was changed into a bedroom for my brother and I. Overnight it went from being a classic academic’s room with a large old-fashioned wooden desk, armchair, fireplace, and papers strewn about the place, to being a children’s bedroom. The beige walls were re-papered in flowered lime green, designed by the children’s book illustrator Jan Pienkowski who ironically also went to King’s College, Cambridge, where he read Classics and English.
